I am a South Florida based Portrait, commercial and fine art photographer.
My fine art work originates in photographs. Some are created in a studio environment with clean backgrounds while others require an elaborate set. Once the images are captured I digitally enhance the files in a manner consistent with my original vision. The process starts out with a mood sketch or notes. These vary in complexity and frequently change and evolve as part of my creative process. Once a solid idea takes form I begin the capture phase. After this I use the digital darkroom to enhance the artistic intent. The final process involves selecting the right media to print the image. Photography for me is the perfect mix of art and science. It is the only artistic media I know that pushes you to be mindful of both. Like oil and vinegar, they often don’t like to mix. It’s that challenge that drives my work. My images are very diverse. I focus on an idea or concept and ride it through to fruition. Then, I begin the search for new themes and ideas all over again. It keeps my art fresh and does not allow creative stagnation. Each work I create provides impute for the next. It’s a constantly evolving craft. I am currently working on an organic series. I feel we have lost our way from the source that created us. Too much technology has improved our lives but at the cost of a disconnect from nature who is our true nurturer. That source is still present and strongly connected in organic elements. By creating artistic images that incorporate natural elements I hope to draw the observer to reconnect with nature and the source of life. Love, fear, pleasure, pain are themes for achieving this. Another facet of my work is portraiture. The individual variations in lines and spaces in the human face fascinate me. We all have the same elements: eyes, ears, nose, mouth and hair. Yet the arrangement is very diverse. Add to that the gamut of emotions we are capable of expressing. For me a portrait depicts the pure essence of the subject. Many cultures believe that the energy of a person also resides in their portraits. Thank you for looking at my work. Prints of all my work are available in custom sizes in canvas, metal and traditional paper media.
I am a science nerd. I also love art. Sculpture and painting fascinate me. Unfortunately, my drawing ability never progressed further then third grade stick figures. Then I found photography. It’s a collaboration of science and art. It’s my left brain working with my right. For me photography is beautiful and magical. It freezes time for eternity. A moment within a moment that is easily missed with all the noise life has. That is the beauty. But it does more. The image captured retains the emotion and feeling that was present at the time it was taken. It retains the energy that was flowing. That is the magic.
I have an Associate in Arts degree obtained in Miami. I have attended many workshops and am a member of the Professional Photographers of America.
